Man slashed in Yishun over handphone: Teens attack for most 'bo liao' reasons

STOMPer different times is shocked that youths seem to be using lethal weapons to fight over matters as trivial as handphones these days. He says the youths involved clearly do not value human life anymore.

Three male youths -- aged 13, 15 and 18 -- are alleged to have slashed a 23-year-old man at Block 362, Yishun Ring Road after he had accused them of stealing his handphone. The man suffered knife wounds on his left arm and head, and was conveyed to a hospital. The three were later arrested.

If the three are found guilty, this would be the latest in a series of violent attacks involving youths over the past two months. Two other gang-related incidents at Downtown East and Bukit Panjang left one 19-year-old dead and seven others injured respectively.

STOMPer different times gives his reaction to the violence:

"I read that a man was slashed yesterday (Dec 9) at Yishun apparently because he accused three teens of taking his mobile phone.

"The three youths are believed to have ganged up on him and slashed him with a knife.

"Another recent case saw an auxiliary policeman badly beaten up by a group of youths simply because he bumped them accidentally while walking in the opposite direction.

"Teens these days are getting violent over the smallest of reasons. To try and take someone's life over something as small as a handphone shows that youngsters don't value human life anymore.

"It's really sad that youngsters resort to violence so easily now, and that causing death is no longer a big deal to them."
