Taiwan woman rants at man for looking at her in bus

A woman, upset with an elderly man for looking at her in the bus, threw a public fit, spewing vulgarities while claiming that she was not afraid of Singaporeans because she was Taiwanese.

STOMPer Bus Rider video recorded the incident.

He says:

"A Taiwanese woman was shouting and cursing on bus number 32.

"The reason?

"Just because the old man took a second glance at her.

"Take note of her language".

'Don't make me chop you': Another gangster wannabe brandishes weapon online

'Don't make me chop you' -- that was the chilling caption scrawled on a photo of a teen posing with a weapon which STOMPer Kor Kung came across online.

This is the fourth such incident of a youth posing with a weapon that has surfaced online recently. Previously, a youth in uniform pretended to behead his schoolmate with a sword, a guy posed with a samurai sword and two youths who were seen with a parang in the MRT were arrested.

Said the STOMPer via email (Dec 15):

"Another gangster wannabe-teen poses with weapon on Facebook.

"Saw this teen with a weapon which I came across on the social networking site.

"...Really daring.

"Plus his message on the picture gave me chills.

"I have no idea why he posted a picture of himself posing with a weapon.

"Maybe he wants to be famous?

"Or maybe he's just trying to act tough."

Sarcasm or apology? KFC sends 72 packets of chilli and 31 spoons for order of 3

When a STOMPer informed KFC that his meal for 3 was delivered without chilli sauce, spoons or napkins, someone at the fast food chain over-compensated by following up with 72 packets of chilli sauce, 31 spoons and 32 napkins.

The STOMPer says:

"On December 5, I ordered a 'Bargain Deal' consisting of six-piece chicken, two cups of whipped potato, one cup of coleslaw and three cans of Pepsi from KFC delivery. They came without chilli sauce, spoons and napkins.

"So I called back and gave feedback. The guy who picked up asked me whether I wanted the items to be delivered.

"I said yes because I paid for all these things after all.

"When they delivered it to my house, they gave me one big bag consisting of the spoons, chilli sauce and napkins.

"There were 72 packets of chilli sauce, 31 spoons and 32 napkins.

"I believe that there would not be so much chilli even I had ordered a family meal.

"Is KFC try to be sarcastic or are they really trying to apologise with me? That’ is the question.

"This KFC outlet is likely to be in Woodlands".

Japan-born guy who lost S'pore citizenship: He deserves it for missing deadline

STOMPer Jin He feels that Ogawa Ryuju, the Japan-born man who lost his Singapore citizenship after missing the deadline for taking a compulsory oath, was not serious enough to be a citizen here, and therefore, does not deserve to be one.

Mr Ogawa had renounced his Japanese citizenship in July this year, and had become a Singapore permanent resident, having served National Service and lived most of his life in Singapore.

However, when he wanted to renew his passport this year to go to Hong Kong for a holiday, he was told by an ICA officer that he was no longer a Singaporean, because despite having a pink IC, he had failed to complete the Oath of Renunciation, Allegiance and Loyalty before he turned 22.

Mr Ogawan claims he did not know about this. He also claims he did not receive two reminder letters from ICA -- the first sent on Aug 31 last year and another one six months later -- reminding him to take the Oath.

STOMper Jin He, however, feels that Mr Ogawa should have taken the requirement for his Singapore Citizenship more seriously. He said:

"I read recent articles about Ogawa Ryuju and felt so annoyed.

"He failed to comply with the Singapore Citizenship requirement to take his oath of allegiance (he was given about TWO years to do this), he claims he’s not aware of this requirement although it is stated on his citizenship certificate.

"He claims of not having received written reminders about the requirement, and when told that he could re-submit his application, he continued to insist that it was not his fault for missing the deadline.

"I feel the Singaporean Citizenship should be reserved for those who deserve it, who are serious about applying for it, and who respect our law!"

Man slashed in Yishun: Why teen gangs still out of control despite police crackdown?

STOMPer anti gangsterism wonders what is happening to our youths these days after three teenagers were arrested in connection with a slashing incident at Yishun Ring Road yesterday (Dec 8).

In statement to STOMP, a police spokesman said that three male youths, aged between 13 and 18 years old, were arrested for slashing a 23-year-old man at Yishun yesterday evening:

"Police received a call yesterday at about 5:50pm requesting for assistance at Block 362 Yishun Ring road.

"A man in his early 20s sustained injuries to his arms and legs and was conveyed conscious to Khoo Teck Puat hospital.

"Three male youths aged between 13 to 18 years old were arrested subsequently in connection to the incident.

"Police investigations are on-going."

STOMPer anti-gangsterism wrote:

"The victim was 23 years old and the suspect is just 13 years of age?

"This 13-year-old boy should be going to school and go back home straight after it, not loitering and slashing people.

"'Mama and papa' should have taken good care of this 13-year-old yakuza wannabe."

This slashing case comes after two high-profile cases of gang attacks, including the fatal slashing of 19-year-old Darren Ng on Oct 30.

The other incident happened at Bukit Panjang.

Legal or not? 19-year-old student sells her underwear online

A 19-year-old student is apparently selling her undergarments for money on her blog, prompting a STOMPer to question whether her actions are legal or socially acceptable.

On her blog, the girl guarantees that the undies have been 'worn for at least twelve hours'. She also says that she accepts requests, and that the items will be shipped in 'discreet packaging'.

Each pair of panties also comes with a short description of their use. For example:

"This whimsical pair is one of my favourites! It is made of cotton and has two cute buttons down the front.

"The back of the panty is fully pink.

"All panties will be worn for a minimum of 12 hours directly before sending out."

A Lianhe Wanbao report also mentioned that some of the items she has put up for sale were sold within two days of their listing on her blog.

Concerned by her behaviour, the STOMPer commented:

"A 19-year-old student has resorted to selling her used undies online for cash. Apparently, you can even pay more for a video of her taking off the panties.

"While I think it is rather enterprising of her, I wonder whether this practice is this even legal?

"If it is legal, it might prompt other girls to do it as well, which in my opinion will result in a big social problem."

Amazing! Lights on this X'mas tree are powered by electric eel

Lights on a Christmas tree are not uncommon at this time of year but have you ever seen a tree powered by an electric eel? A Japanese museum has come up with an innovative and eco-friendly way to sparkle this festive season.

This is a great way to save on electrical bills especially since electricity consumption is usually much higher in winter, says STOMPer Z.

Z came across a video showing how the eel lights up the otherwise ordinary-looking tree each time it moves and was amazed.

She says:

"While electric bills are known to rise in the winter, an aquarium in Japan has seemingly nipped this problem in the bud by powering a Christmas tree with…an electric eel?

"It is said that while the power generated isn’t enough to provide consistent light, it is strong enough to allow intermittent flashing -- just nice for a Christmas tree set-up!".

Kitten found dead in Sengkang: Another victim of animal abuse?

STOMPer Kiefer Goh is preparing to bury this kitten that his mother found dead under block 183B at Sengkang. There seems to be a puncture wound under its neck and the STOMPer wonders if this is a case of animal abuse.

The STOMPer appeals:

"This cat was found at Sengkang 183B around 10pm on 9 Dec.

"It appears to have been punctured from its lower jaw into its mouth.

"Its eyes were bloodshot and I suspect that was due to strangulation.

"The cat was only a kitten and no bigger than 1 foot long.

"It was already dead when my mother carried it to my house. We are preparing to bury it.

"If anyone has more information about this case, please contact the authorities.

"I hope the government will start doing more to help these poor animals."

So uncivilised: Man pees in public at Jalan Besar

STOMPer ahbear caught this man urinating in public at Jalan Besar. The STOMPer thinks that this is a very uncivilised act, when there are so many public toilets available in Singapore.

Sent via the STOMPer's iPhone:

"This uncivilised guy is peeing on the roadside at Jalan Besar!"

In a recent report, officers from the National Environment Agency (NEA) are catching more people urinating in public places.

In northwestern, Singapore for example, 66 were caught in 2008, 232 in 2009 and 250 up till November this year.

Most of the culprits were male, between 20 and 40 years old.

Man slashed in Yishun over handphone: Teens attack for most 'bo liao' reasons

STOMPer different times is shocked that youths seem to be using lethal weapons to fight over matters as trivial as handphones these days. He says the youths involved clearly do not value human life anymore.

Three male youths -- aged 13, 15 and 18 -- are alleged to have slashed a 23-year-old man at Block 362, Yishun Ring Road after he had accused them of stealing his handphone. The man suffered knife wounds on his left arm and head, and was conveyed to a hospital. The three were later arrested.

If the three are found guilty, this would be the latest in a series of violent attacks involving youths over the past two months. Two other gang-related incidents at Downtown East and Bukit Panjang left one 19-year-old dead and seven others injured respectively.

STOMPer different times gives his reaction to the violence:

"I read that a man was slashed yesterday (Dec 9) at Yishun apparently because he accused three teens of taking his mobile phone.

"The three youths are believed to have ganged up on him and slashed him with a knife.

"Another recent case saw an auxiliary policeman badly beaten up by a group of youths simply because he bumped them accidentally while walking in the opposite direction.

"Teens these days are getting violent over the smallest of reasons. To try and take someone's life over something as small as a handphone shows that youngsters don't value human life anymore.

"It's really sad that youngsters resort to violence so easily now, and that causing death is no longer a big deal to them."

So cheapskate! Man uses 'free' HDB water to wash his BMW

STOMPer 12345678qaz spotted this man washing his sleek black BMW with water from an HDB tap and felt he was being a cheapskate for trying to save a few cents worth of water.

The STOMPer explained why:

"Today I saw a luxury car owner, washing his BMW, using 'free' public water, at a housing estate near the Tanjong Katong area.

"The most interesting part is that he even had a long hose prepared to connect the public tap to the handicap lot where he had parked for washing.

"Even if town council workers do not lock the tap, it does not give him the right to use it. But if the tap was locked, then how did he manage to turn on the tap?

"Why so cheapskate? His car plate is 'SJT', which can be considered a new car. He can afford an expensive COE but cannot afford to pay for water to wash his pricey rims."

Cool or crazy? Student creates prosthetic tentacle arm

STOMPer DrOck is astounded with scientific medical developments such as this prosthetic tentacle arm, designed by a student. Could this become a reality?

Said the STOMPer:

"This prosthetic arm is not your typical prosthetic arm at all.

"In fact, it's hardly even an arm -- it's a tentacle.

"Powered by a small motor and a set of cables, the tentacle-shaped prosthetic arm curls its claw to grip objects.

"It was part of a student project by Kaylene Kau, who was asked to "push the boundaries of current upper-limb prosthetic design.

"It's certainly pushing my limits -- I've always dreaded hybrid human technology, but it seems almost inevitable that it will happen in the near future.

"I just hope I don't live to see my grandchildren go for surgery to implant wings or a tail."

Customer travels all the way from Woodlands to Toa Payoh for 'out-of-stock' item

STOMPer respect travelled from Woodlands to Toa Payoh after he received an email, a letter and an sms from an electronic goods company, informing him he could collect the item he wanted to purchase. He was told it was out of stock when he had reached the counter.

The STOMPer recounted:

"I am really sad and disappointed that such a big giant company like Philips, tell me that they do not have stock for a steamer (for clothes).

"I have been supporting Philips since my NS days, buying a hair dryer, rice cooker, vacuum cleaner, shaver, iron and TV.

"I joined their family rewards programme and chose my rewards. (I still have to pay, but it is slightly cheaper).

"Philips mailed me a letter, emailed me and smsed me to collect the products.

"I reach there happily but after waiting for 20 minutes at their show room, the sales staff told me there was no more stock!

"I questioned why Philips smsed me to come and collect the steamer but they did not have stock!

"I travelled all the way from Woodlands to the Toa Payoh headquarters and this was what I got when I asked again when the steamer will be arriving.

"The Philips staff's response was 'I don't know'.

"I walked off because my head was 'steaming'. This was the result of poor supply-chain management."

The things technology can do: Band plays X'mas songs with iPads and iPhones

Even traditional festivals like Christmas have evolved with the times -- instead of singing carols the old-fashioned way, watch how these youths play Christmas classics using iPhones and iPads.

Shared STOMPer modernXmas:

"iPhones and iPads can do a lot of things, but did you know they could do this?

"Seen here performing a medley of Christmas carols is the North Point Community Church iBand using nothing but borrowed iPads and iPhones.

"Cool, right?

"That's one way to keep the tradition alive: keep it up to date with technology!"
