SUSPECTS NABBED FOR INVOLVEMENT IN GANG-RELATED ACTIVITIES

The police arrested 59 people for suspected invement in gang-related activities in an islandwide operation over the weekend. The enforcement biltz - which took place between Saturday evening and the wee hours of yesterday - was led by the cirminal Investigation Department (CID) and involved 40 officers. Last weekend, a similar crackdown netted 144 suspects. In the latest operation, those arrested were aged between 17 to 57. According to a police statement, the suspects were picked up at places such as entertainment outlets, pubs, shopping centres and coffee shops across the island. Investigations against those arrested are on-going. The CID Director, Senior Assistant Commissioner Hong Wee Teck, said: ''Police do not condone gang-related activities and will continue to come down hard on them.''
